The Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) may be the most widespread, misunderstood and potentially dangerous epidemic that most people hardly know anything about. Eighty percent of all people under 50 years of age will have a strain of the virus at some point in their lives and most will not even realize they have it. Someone You Love reveals just how dangerous this virus can be, causing six different types of cancers in both men and women.
Narrated by Vanessa Williams, this poignant documentary takes a look into the lives of five women affected by HPV. Each of these women has an intimate story to tell. Cervical cancer is exclusively caused by HPV and is the second leading cancer in women. Worldwide, cervical cancer kills over 250,000 women every year. Each day in the United States, 33 women are diagnosed with HPV related cervical cancer; that's over 12,000 women a year.
