Based on the real-life courtship between Kumail Nanjiani and Emily  Gordon,The Big   Sick tells the story of a Pakistan-born comedian who connects with a beautiful woman after one of his standup sets. What they thought would bejust a one-night stand blossoms into the real thing, complicating the life that is expected of him by his traditional Muslim parents. When Emily comes down with a mystery illness, Kumail must navigate the medical crisis with her parents, while dealing with the emotional tug-of-war between his family and his heart.
