A Kid Like Jake follows a young couple as they grapple with doing right by their son in a postmodern world. When Jake begins to show signs of "gender expansive" play, they must navigate how to raise him to make sure that he can be his authentic self. As they struggle to navigate their roles as parents, they begin to see that they are not only confronting their concerns about what's best for Jake, but also trying to save the bond they have with each other. A Kid Like Jake is a study of intimacy and parenthood and the reality that doesn't always match.
