Live at The Dietrich

by
Erica Rogler

Live at the Dietrich November 17, 2010

Only two more days!   That’s right! For all of those Harry Potter movie fans, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will open at the Dietrich this Friday. As always, we will hold a special midnight show for all those who want to be among the first to see this film. Advance tickets will be available for this show while supplies last.   You can purchase tickets for this show or any of our Harry Potter movie times at the Dietrich’s ticket booth or online at www.dietrichtheater.com <http://www.dietrichtheater.com>

For those of you who are more interested in live performances, the Dietrich’s Radio Players will be putting on a show at the theater in just a few short weeks. On Tuesday, December 7th at 7:00 p.m., we will be taking a quick trip back to those grand old days of radio theatre.    Under the direction of Valerie Paulus, this group of over 15 actors will perform Jack Benny’s adaptation of “High Noon” which originally aired on September 28, 1952, and Lux Radio Theater’s adaptation of the feel good Christmas story “Miracle on 34th Street”. This year the radio players will be teaming up with a barbershop quartet from the Endless Mountains Chorus to present these favorites which is a first for us.    So join us; the evening should be filled with great music, wonderful sound effects, and good old-fashioned radio fun. Admission is free.

In addition to movies and the Radio Players Performance, the Dietrich also has a few great classes coming up. For those of you who have always wanted to paint decorative pieces for your home with or to give as gifts, Wendy Rozelle is teaching Decorative Painting classes on Wednesdays from noon to 3:00 p.m. What is so great about her classes is that no experience is required and by the end of just a couple of classes, you will have a gorgeous painted piece.   The painting techniques she uses are very easy to learn and its fun. Wendy showed me some of the projects she plans to teach over the next few weeks and they are fun holiday items that would be perfect for gift giving. Admission is $20 per class plus the cost of the painting surface. Call the Dietrich at 570-996-1500 to learn more information about these classes and to register. Preregistration is required so Wendy will know how many materials to bring.

Our Esther Harmatz is also offering an intermediate jewelry making class in just a few days. On Monday, November 22 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., you can learn how to use silver clay to create borders and decorative encasements for fused glass pieces in Jewelry Making: Embellish with Silver Clay. Admission is $60 and all materials will be provided. You may bring your own small fused glass pieces to embellish if you wish. Introduction to Silver Clay is a prerequisite to this class. Call us at 570-996-1500 to register.
