The Big Heat tells the story of Detective Dave Bannion who is investigating the suicide of a police official. After talking to the man's barfly girlfriend, Bannion unearths far-reaching corruption that leads all the way from the precinct to mob boss Mike Lagana. But when the cop's lover is tortured and murdered, it becomes clear that crossing Lagana is a bad idea. Soon Bannion finds himself marked for death and his family in mortal danger.
