Sharks: Why We Should Love Them, Not Fear Them
At the Dietrich Theater in downtown Tunkhannock
Saturday, April 17 at 10:00 a.m.
Admission: FREE
An initiative of the COOLIDGE CORNER THEATRE, with major support from the ALFRED P. SLOAN FOUNDATION.
Join Dr. Linda Auker, a marine biologist who teaches at Misericordia University, for a brief presentation and Q&A after the movie Jaws. You will learn about shark biology and conservation, and even some specific trivia about Jaws itself. This classic film, directed by Steven Spielberg, tells the harrowing tale of a great white that begins making snacks out of the good people of Amity Island. It’s up to Police Chief Martin Brody (Roy Scheider), grizzled fisherman Quint (Robert Shaw), and ichthyologist Matt Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss) to capture the killer beast. Will these men have what it takes to reel in the horror that awaits them beneath the waves? One thing is for certain; they're going to need a bigger boat. Now considered one of the greatest films ever made, Jaws, won three Academy Awards and spawned three sequels. Reservations are highly encouraged, due to limited seating. Reserve your tickets by visiting the ticket booth or calling 570-836-1022 ext. 3.
*The Dietrich is following CDC guidelines for mask wearing and social distancing. Face masks are required to enter the theater and must be worn at all times when navigating the theater. Once seated in socially distance seat, mask may be removed to enjoy popcorn and other concession items.
