Gifford Pinchot: The People’s Governor

Sun., November 5 at 3:00 p.m.
Presenter: Gary Ryman,
author and American history scholar
Admission: Free
More than a forester, Gifford Pinchot served two terms as governor of Pennsylvania, from 1923 to 1927 and 1931 to 1935. These eight years during dynamic periods of history displayed Gifford as a forward-thinking leader, ahead of his times in many ways. During this program, author Gary Ryman will share how Governor Pinchot’s two four year stints in elective office were only a small part of this ambitious man’s sometimes quixotic political quest. Ryman will also touch on Cornelia Bryce Pinchot’s significant role in Gifford’s life and political success. Copies of Gary Ryman’s book Gifford Pinchot: The People’s Governor will be available for sale and to be signed before and after the presentation. Tickets are available by calling 570-836-1022 x3 or at the Dietrich’s ticket booth while they last.
