Nominated for 8 Academy Awards and Winner for Best Actor and Best Original Screenplay, Milk is a 2008 biopic based on the life of gay rights activist and politician Harvey Milk, who was the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in California, as a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. This film shares the story of his rise to office and the ensuing tragedy that left a nation reeling. Directed by Gus Van Sant and written by Dustin Lance Black, the film stars Sean Penn as Milk, Josh Brolin as Dan White, a city supervisor, and Victor Garber as San Francisco Mayor George Moscone. Tickets will be available at the door. Call 570-836-1022x3 for more information.
